Question about survey and sampling

My daughter chose to do the "What Conflicting Mental Tasks Reveal About Thinking: The Stroop Effect" and we are a bit confused. We have 8 volunteers that are willing to help us. Do we "test" the 8 volunteers and compare their results or do we choose less volunteers and have them do 3 trials? Can you please help?

This sounds like a fun project!

My interpretation of the procedures is that each volunteer will be tested twice, once with the set of cards with the non-matching words, and once with the set of cards with the matching words. The project procedures suggest that for half of the volunteers, reverse the order and use the set with the matching words first.

It might help your daughter to visualize the experimental design if she creates data sheets in her lab book, with one row to record the observed times for each volunteer, with two columns, one for each set of cards.
