Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Dear Sciencebuddies,
In Our science project, we selected two classrooms. We fill one of the classrooms with plants (inside and outside windows and infront of doors and ..). We r trying to measure particulate matters in both classes. We assume that kids with asthma will have higher attandency rate compared to the last year in the class with plants. apart from raising humidity (my country bahrain is too humid already) how plant can reduce the level of particulate matters?!

It turns out that some plants can actually directly absorb or contain particulate matter. Plants with hairy or fuzzy leaves, or leaves that have a rough texture often trap particulate matter. Read about it more at this link here: http://www.treehugger.com/natural-scien ... ution.html
