Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Do cell types that express the highest amounts of NPC1 during gene expression affected the most by drugs that bind to the NPC1 protein or is it the opposite where cell types that express the lowest amounts of NPC1 affected the most? I initially thought it would be the cell types that express the lowest amounts since they are at a higher risk of malfunctioning or not being able to do their jobs in their biochemical pathways. Is my initial thought right or if not, what is the reason behind it?
If anyone has done this science project, any help/advice regarding this question would greatly be appreciated!

Your question is a good one, and I'm sure it is a unique question for a science fair project. Your hypothesis seems reasonable but I don't know the answer. In a biological system. there are many factors that affect the effectiveness of a drug but answering this question would require an experiment. Have you done a literature search on this question yet?

You should be able to design a controlled experiment to answer the question if you access to a lab and the required materials. However, please let me know if your have any questions about the design of the experiment
