i want to do a project to determine whether a garbage disposal unit also known as a garburator is more eco-friendly than simply throwing your garbage away to be sent to landfills. my problem is that i need to do an experiment to show which is better and i dont know how to demonstrate that. i can do a makeshift landfill but i dont know how to show the garburator please help !

Hi,
Welcome to Science Buddies! I like your enthusiasm for exploring more environmentally-friendly solutions for garbage disposal. Your idea with the garbage disposal system is hard to measure, since the garbage does not go away, but is just transferred to the sewer system for treatment there, instead of to a landfill for treatment. Have you done any research to understand how a garbage disposal and the sewer treatment system works? Perhaps you can think of a way to build a model of each treatment system, then treat some of your trash through each system to see which one is better. I definitely think this can be done, but could take a while, so plan your time well.
I found another project that is similar, you might also like:

I am happy to help you further, if you want to design and build the model treatment systems.
