[quote="cherryblossom314"]Hi there, I'm doing an 8th grade science fair project and I want to do it on chromatography. I was goingt o do it with red, yellow, and green leaves but they're gone now so I need a new idea. I was wondering what if there were other projects that I could use chromatography in. I already have filter paper strips. Thank You.

Hi,
Science Buddies has plenty of great project ideas for chromatography. If you want something more advanced, this one might work well for you:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... background . It covers and connects to topics ranging from adhesion, cohesion, capillary action, polarity, miscibility, and covalent, ionic and hydrogen bonding. Otherwise, this project on discovering what constitutes black ink is more straightforward and equally interesting:

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply! I decided to stick with chromatography and use red cabbage, beetroot, marigold, carrots, white lily, roses, and spinach during the experiment. I want to extract their pigments. One problem I still have is coming up with a good scientific question/experiment. Can you please help me with that? Thank you very much!
