A change in the winds project question

Hello,

I was reading the procedure for the project a change in the wind: studying bernoulli's principle, but i did not understand one part of the procedure. How far away should the blow dryer be from the cans? I know the blow dryer is suppose to be aimed in the middle of the cans, but is the distance of the dryer from the cans determined by trial and error as suggested in step 5?

Also, could a science fair question for this project be what is the effect of airflow and distance between two objects on those objects? This seems very long and confusing though. Could there be another question or another way to write this questin?

Here is the link to the project: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... shtml#help

Hi Imtiaz1,
I believe you are correct regarding the distance for blow dryer. It is a trail and error steps since different models of hair dryer will have different settings, ratings, etc...

In regards to the science fair question, the experiment illustrate the effect of velocity (airflow) vs. the pressure it exerts. The distance between the two objections is just a way to measure that pressure. At any rate, I would recommend re-framing the science fair question with that in mind.

Good Luck and Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.
