Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

For my science fair project i'm making a video gamer using for the blind in the form of a runner game using game maker lite.I got the game running and working but i'm having trouble implementing the sound.I need to know how to make a sound play every time i get to the edge of the platform so the player will know when to jump.Any ideas?
