Hi!. I am in year 10 and attempting to conduct an experiment on the above topic. I was wondering what the control would/could be, as well as what the independent variable may be. Thank you :)

Hi madiiie3,

This is a neat project.

Controlled variables are things you keep the same in all of your tests. For example, what do you keep constant when taking the calibration photos? (Hint: look at step #4 under "Calibrating your digital camera".) What do you keep constant when taking the skyglow photos? (Hint: look at step #4 under "Taking skyglow photos".)

The independent variable is the thing that you intentionally change. Take a look at step #1 under "Taking skyglow photos". This step describes the independent variable in this project.

Post back with what you think the independent and controlled variables are, and we'll make sure you are on the right track.
