I don't want to spoil the sense of accomplishment of finding the answer for yourself, but I will suggest that you that you try web searching on google.com or some other web search engine for "tap water additives" "tap water chemistry" and "pond chemistry".

hey tatihearts no1

im sorry about what happened. Just to let you know tap water has many additives that are toxic to other forms of life such as the fish you have placed in it. i have done that before also through experience and one of the reasons why i think they died is because there is small amounts of fluorine and chlorine and other toxins in tap water.

here read this article about tap water and you might find it surprising

hope this helps and good luck
