Can the earth's magnetic poles wear out?

I've been asking myself a lot of questions about perpetual energy and the like, mostly working with magnets, but that's a entirely different discussion. It come to my understanding that magnets wear out after a long enough time has passed or after continued use. And so, I asked myself, "WHAT about Earth's magnetic poles? They've been around for a long while haven't they?"
I'm a curious person, and would like an answer even if it isn't one Id like to hear. Maybe this was a question someone asked in 2nd grade and was easily answered and I'm just a dummy. Thank you for your answers ahead of time, that is if you so choose to answer.
