Wanted to use crystalline oxalate for doing a project about studying various methods to dissolve kidney stone. Is an axial ate salt allowed to be used at home (of course precisely adhering to precautions and knowing all protective practices? The salt is available on the Internet for purchase.
Secondly, considering a project involving growing non-pathogenic E.coli. Will that be allowed to do at home? Again, the growth medium in plates is available for Internet purchase.

Hi and welcome to Scibuddies. I'll try to help you answer the questions about what you can or cannot do in your science project. Did you ask your teachers about your schools guidelines for using toxic chemicals or bacteria? If it is ok with your school then you can go ahead but some schools require that experiments involving hazardous chemicals such as oxalate salts or E coli bacteria must be done in the school lab with some supervision.

Check with your school before you choose the project to be sure it's allowed.
