Can sound waves(longitudinal waves) break the surface of the ocean on their own? If I were so send a sound wave of 1000Hz from 1000m down in the ocean, would you be able to hear it another the water line or do you need something to record it under water and than send it out above the water?

Hi Maggiedamon,
This forum is for students, parents and teachers working on grade K-12 science projects. Are you working on a science project involving sound transmission in water? If so it would be helpful if you could post some details about your project, including your hypothesis and the experiments you plan to conduct.
I hope this helps. Please post again if you have more questions.
