How do you make a pulley system with an IMA of 7 and one with an IMA of .5

Hey CBLOCH,

The formula for calculating IMA is IMA = (effort distance)/(resistance distance).

In terms of a pulley system, your resistance distance would be how high the weight goes off of the surface after the weight attached to the other end is released. The effort distance will be the distance from the top of the pulley system to the weight you released to move the other weight.

Hopefully using this information you will be able to figure out how to create your pulley systems. If you want to learn more about IMA, I recommend looking at the first link, and to learn more about pulleys, you can take a look at the second link which is a project on Science Buddies.
