My daughter is going to do an experiment involving eggs from our flock of backyard chickens. Because the eggs will not come from a store, they are required to be treated as a level 2 biohazard and we need to complete additional forms as well as conduct the experiment in a BSL-2 Lab. My question. is in filling out the forms required by the Inernational Rules for the INTEL Science Fair, how is a chicken egg supposed to be treated? Is it fresh tissue, a fresh organ or body part, a body fluid? The egg does not seem to neatly fit into any of the catatories offered. Here is the complete list of choices: Fresh or frozen tissue sample, fresh organ or other body part, blood, body fluids, primary cell/tissue cultures, human or other primate established cell lines. TIA

Hello and thank you for your question.

I would contact someone at INTEL so that they can answer your question more directly. I agree with you that an egg doesn't seem to fit into any of the choices, but a contact person for the science fair should be able to tell you how they would want it listed. Is there an "other" category at all?
