Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I think I need to change the topic of my project from how to drain flood water faster to something about ocean dirt because I did not measure the time. I don't what my data or graph would be about and the abstract. I'm also trying to find a way of making a better model with plastic or something else I don't know where to get my materials.

Can you repeat your experiment and measure the time when you do it again? Did you use the ideas in the thread here: viewtopic.php?t=17920 or how did you perform your experiment?

i made a model of the drains and my litter was leaves . so i put the model on the bucket and measured the amount of dirt that passed through then i modified it by adding a mesh (sponge material) to reduce the amount of dirt that passed

And what did you observe when you performed your experiment?

A suggestion from your previous thread said that you could test simple permeability with the various materials. You would measure this by using water and 2 cups for each type of material used (one with a hole and one without). You would put the material in the cup, pour water over it and see how much water comes out. Then you could determine the porosity by dividing how much water you put in originally with how much water came out. In this case you can construct a graph measuring porosity of the material.

Does my project title have to be a question?
I did the experiment by measuring the time it takes for the water to drain with dirt in it and without dirt.
the one without dirt drained faster so a drain inlet with mesh will prevent dirt from entering the drain then water will be drained faster

Can you articulate why you did this experiment? That's what the project is about. Answering a question allows you to measure variables in reference to that question.

If you are only asking specifically about the title for your project, no, it does not need to be a question. But it should convey your hypothesis and/or results.
