Terpene Detection

Hi,

I am currently researching various forms of malaria diagnosis. I stumbled upon an article that described how infected individuals have higher levels of terpenes in their breath compared to healthy individuals. Specifically, the study found levels of limonene and pinene. So my question is: Is there any simple yet effective way to detect these terpene levels? I was thinking that it might be possible to do so through an altered breathalyzer, but i am not entirely sure on how to do so. Thank you!

Hello,
The Science Buddies forum is for students in grades K-12 who are working on science projects. You are registered as a parent. If you are a student or posting for your son or daughter, please provide details about the science project including the hypotheses and how you (or your son or daughter) plan to conduct experiments to test the hypotheses.

If you are not a student and not posting for a student, you can find other websites where your questions would be more appropriate. Thank you.
