Science Fair Questions

Hello,
I'm doing a science fair experiment on how much electricity different fruits generate. I was wondering if anyone can answer my questions? First, is there a difference between fruit electricity and powering a house electricity? Second, are electrolytes just a part of fruit electricity or all types of electricity? Third, are electrolytes key to electricity? Fourth, what is key to creating electricity? Finally, which is a better source of electrolytes, a lemon or Gatorade? Thank you for your help. Please get back to me as soon as possible. :D :)

Hi Nrstisser,

There is a Science Buddies project on electricity from potatoes:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ry#summary

Some of the information included in the project description should be useful to you.

Electricity produced in this and other batteries is direct current while the power to your house is alternating current. Electrolytes are chemicals (usually ions) dissolved in water. Electrolytes can be associated with the kinds of chemical reactions that produce electricity. These reactions are used in batteries but electricity is also produced in other ways that do not involve chemical reactions.

I hope this helps. Please ask again if you have more questions.

A. Norman
