Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I am helping an 8th grader with the science project, “Seebeck Effect, Turn Heat Into Electricity, Then measure it with a thermocouple thermometer”. I am a tad confused by the chart in the procedure. Do you use the electrical potential difference measured for room temperature every time and add that to the meter reading for the various temps to get the junction potential difference for each one?? Thanks and any help would be appreciated!

Yes, since the room temperature potential difference should be the same for all, you just need to add that to the meter reading to get the junction potential difference. It should be as simple as that!
