I’m a future Geology major and I kinda had a weird question. So I know the surface of Venus is very different from ours. The lack of tectonic plates and differences in volcanic formation causes the crust to look well- unearthly. But I just had a weird hypothesis. Is there anyway earth could be the one that’s different. Is there any possibility that the earths crust separated because the result of a large impact? Shattered like? Just a curiosity.

Hello Bleberlee,
These are interesting questions - but the Ask the Expert forums are for students in grades K-12 who need help with their science projects. If you are a student in grades K-12 and you are planning a science project, please tell us more details about your project, including your hypothesis and the experiments you are planning to test the hypothesis. Otherwise, there are other places on the internet where your questions would be more appropriate. Thank you.
