Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Hi,
I am helping my student with his science fair project where he will measure the amount of bacteria that different brands of yogurt contain.
Our question is related to independent and dependent variables. Is the brand of yogurt the independent variable and the amount of bacteria the dependent variable?
