hello guys,

for a project i am trying to make a human body oder profile like a DNA profile.
every humans body oder is different and it's proven that your primary body oder is written in your genes.
so if we could make a personall body oder profile just like a DNA profile we could be able to link a criminal etc etc.
But before we can do that it will still take years before our technology is evolved to that point. So my project is just one of all those projects that will give more information and let us learn more about this subject.

for my project i will use the GC-FID with headspace because my projectboss want's to know how well this will work. i am also using 5 different kinds of absorbent materials and the stuff i wan't to measure is called VOC's this stands for volitale organic compounds.

these are:
english cotton
SPME
Sorbstar
active charcoal cloth filters
glass beads (1 mm)

so the problem is that there is not a lot to find about this subject with a GC-FID with headspace and i need a beginning with what for settings i have to use for the GC and the headspace for every different type of absorption materials could anyone help me determine good settings or provide me some literature of this subject please?

so again the question is can anyone help me to determine the best settings to measure VOC's for the GC and the headspace for every 5 of these absorption materials?

PS: sorry for my bad english i'm from the netherlands

Hello,
Sorry that no one has gotten back to you about your questions. This is a life sciences forum and the experts here may not be that knowledgeable about using GC. I would recommend that you try posting your questions on the physical science forum where there are more chemists to help you.

It is an interesting project, but I suspect that you will have to spend time doing internet searches yourself to find all the information and parameters you would need. Highly technical questions like this are a little beyond our expertise.
