I am going to be doing the Classical Music and Cognitive Tests for an advanced high school science fair project. What I am wondering is, will a retired psychologist make a good mentor?

Hi! If I understand correctly, you want to test the effect of classical music on cognition. Is that correct?
If yes, a psychologist (retired or not) is a great place to start with discussing how to set up the experiment. She/he may be able to point you to existing studies in the field.
If not, can you please provide some more detail about your project question and what you are planning to do?
