I have a chemistry project to measure ph doing a back titration.
steps are
Day one
Make the solution
NaoH as my ph indicator
Grab as sample of 10 ml of kimchi
Test the ph
Spin the knob of the pipet until the color change
Do calculation to find the concentration of ph
trial one
8.4
2
8.0
3
8.5
Am I using the right ph indicator and how do i do the math?

The pH value can be measured using electrochemical measuring systems, litmus paper, or indicators and colorimeters. The easiest way to take a pH measurement is to use litmus paper or a colorimeter.
Thus pH is the measurement of hydrogen ion concentration in a liquid solution. This activity is directly connected to its acidic, neutral or alkaline characteristics
Thanks

I have to use a math for ph by doing a back titration so no “use of machines” so how would I do the math to find the concentration to get the ph value.

I have a chemistry project on kimchi and have .10 mol of naoh what should my reactant be since Naoh is my ph indicator and what mortality?
Also can't use any type of machine have to do a titration.

Hi Jason,
Are you doing a hands-on science project or is this a homework problem? The Science Buddies "Ask the Expert" forums are for students in grades K-12 who are doing hands-on science projects. The experts do not have time to help with homework.
If you are doing a science project, please provide us with details about your hypothesis and the experiments you plan to conduct in order to test the hypothesis. Thank you.

This isn't my area of expertise, but perhaps this website will get you going in the right direction. It looks like you're using NaOH in excess, and then need something to react with the excess NaOH. That's something you can look up online - acid base reactions with pH indicators.

Good luck! This sounds like a tricky project to design.

How to find the concentration of kimchi in chemistry.
I made kimchi for my chemistry project to find pH and wondering how to get my concentration of kimchi.

This project at Science Buddies contains information on measuring pH in Kimchi. You might start by carefully reading through the information on the background tab and the procedure:

Is there a balance equation for kimchi for naoh and if so what is it also im doing a back titration to find pH and I need the concentration.
Note( no stripe for pH only solving using rules of chemistry)

how do to solve the ph for kimchi step by step.
C3H6O3+NaOH→NaC3H5O3+H2O(using this equation) it a one to one ratio
.01 M NaOH
1.16 mL was used for 10mL of kimchi
This is a back titration
I don't have concentration since I also don't know how to set it up correctly.
