i'm currently writing a research paper about energy drinks and its effects on cardiovascular endurance, and inositol is an ingredient in my chosen energy drink. the question is does inositol help in the productivity of my respondent in energy production, or does inositol process food nutrients to produce energy.

My initial question for you is: have you looked up what inositol is, and how it is used by the body (wikipedia, not sites that sell it)? I think that will get you going in the right direction.
