Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

My daughter is struggling to come up with an idea for a chemistry project for her IB program. She’s an lifelong athlete (Olympic weightlifting) and a vegetarian and would like to do something related to athletics, maybe about protein. It needs to be either an experiment that could be done in high school or an analysis of something where there is plenty of data available. She needs to be able to write 10-15 pages about whatever she explores. She’s the only one in her class in IB and hasn’t been able to get much help from her teacher to figure out what she can do. I’m no help at all. She’s getting desperate. If anyone has any really interesting ideas, we would really appreciate it.
