Kia ora,
We have been doing an inquiry into salt. While we were carrying out an observational experiment we had used white vinegar as a liquid medium for some of our objects. One object being a rubber band. WOW what we observed was the rubber band had grown over a couple of days while being in the vinegar. But we do not know why? :D

Hi WhaeaV,
It looks like you have stumbled onto a different science experiment in the midst of your salt inquiry! It is likely that there has been a chemical reaction between the rubber and the vinegar. Check out this site:

Hopefully it will give you some information about what's happened.
