Are you building a model, or do you have live cells underneath the skin?

I had to build a piece of skin, I did a model of it too, which was not required for my project, it was supposed to be a three d drawing, but I built a model. I got my marks for my model, but my fake skin I bombed at, it just did not work out, but thanks for your help, in offering.
I am interested still though to know what I could have built it out of....
I used a piece of rubber, a layer of glue, a layer of nylons, and a layer of liquid latex. It would not dry and turned out to be a gooy mess.
If you know of anything better, pleas elet me know... thanks
