Hi,

Interesting and potentially very useful idea. Only about 10% of a banana plant is fruit, so the other 90% gets thrown away as waste. It is possible, however, to turn the banana remains into a sort of 'plastic' that can be used like film for wrapping or, when made thicker, as trays in place of Styrofoam ones.

Here's a website that talks about this: https://www.theengineer.co.uk/banana-wa ... e-plastic/

I don't know exactly how to turn banana waste into pseudo-plastic but a good starting point would be to dry the material at a relatively low temperature, then grind it into a fine powder. There would be several other steps to this procedure, but you will have to do some searching to find them and then do some trial experiments to see what works.

this really sounds interesting, so do keep posting with questions and information about what you found and how well it worked.

Good luck!
