Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Hi,
I am looking for help with an idea for a science project for school. The experiment should be doable at home with mostly accessible materials. I am interested in biology and earth and environmental science. I have a few ideas already but would like to get advice on which would be the best, or other ideas along these lines:

-Investigating air pollution in different locations
-Using activated carbon to slow fruit ripening of different fruits
-The effects of different chemicals on rock in regards to chemical weathering

I was also wondering if there are any experiment ideas to do with plastics or microplastics?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
