hi!
What's your budget for your project? Couldn't you just buy the Agrobacterium tumefaciens and try to infect your plants? That seems like the simplest solution so far because it is relatively cheap.
Hope this helps!

Hey!
I do not think it is possible to create a disease similar to crown gall with garlic. You will still have to buy the bacteria. By looking up information on google.com I discovered that the disease cane gall is very similar to crown gall. Cane gall is caused by Agrobacterium rubi. It affects many brambles, especially blackberries. Here are some websites that contain information about cane gall:

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a site that sells Agrobacterium rubi. So, I think it would be best to stick with crown gall for your experiment.
Hope this helps!

Is it too late to use Goldenrod galls? They are caused by flies not bacteria. If you can find some goldenrod--you can probably find some galls and do some simple observation experiments. You can observe them under slightly different temperatures and see what happens. Try putting garlic on the larva and see what it does to them!
Just keep experimenting and asking why, why, why.
Good luck.
