We purchased the Ferrofluid Nanotechnology Kit from Home Science Tools. Can anyone recommended where we can purchase more mineral oil or recommend an equivalent substitute? My daughter is required to have more trials than the kit and the only material she is lacking is the mineral oil.

Thank you in advance,
JRios

Hi there,

Though I'm not familiar with that kit specifically, if it's just mineral oil you're looking for, you should be able to find it in many places. Big multipurpose stores like Walmart should all have mineral oil. Drugstores often should carry it as well (it can be used as a laxative), as should home improvement stores (it also has applications in treating wood). Otherwise, online retailers like Amazon never fail.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, 17eugenekim , for the quick reply. We'll take a look at those retailers. Have a good and safe day.

I just wanted to jump in and confirm that the mineral oil in the kit is just regular mineral oil. You can buy this locally, as Expert 17eugenekim noted, or at Amazon.

I hope things went well with your student's project!
