Where there is charge, there can be sparks.

Post by HermioneFan »

Hello, I am doing the experiment Where there is charge, there can be sparks. I tried creating static electricity at first, but it didn't work. I tried while not having socks at my feet, wearing plastic gloves, and on wood which is not painted, and it worked. Now I have a problem with transferring the charge to the electrophorus; it doesn't work while there is static charge on the acrylic sheet since it attracts bits of paper and aluminum. I don't know why. However while rubbing the acrylic with wool, and touching it later, I don't hear sparks and don't feal a zap. Maybe the quantity of static electricity is insufficient, and this why it doesn't transfer.
