Hello,

This sounds like a fun project! Different parts of the solar oven have conductive, convective and radiant heat transfer. However, the primary type of heat transfer in this experiment is radiant. The sunlight that enters the oven is absorbed by the black shelf/heat sink (and possibly a black pan/pot if you are using one) and then radiated from these materials. Most of this radiant heat energy is trapped inside the oven and heats the food.

Good luck,

Audrey
