Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I have started trying to assemble my wire recoder which this site has the diagrams for. I have finished and it would seem that all of my connections are good and in the correct place. does anyone have any suggestions about what i should try to get it working.

What part of it is not working? Does it not turn, not record, not play back?

im not sure it just does not seem to be functioning
but i dont think its recording
