Saltwater battery does not light LED bulb

Post by Nambiarmanju »

Hi,

We added table salt into normal tap water in a glass then placed a small rectangle copper flat rod and a zinc flat rod with alligator clips then connected it to the LED.
The LED is working with a battery but it does not with the saltwater.
What is my son missing?

Regards

Hi - you may need to connect multiple batteries in series to light up an LED. A high-efficiency LED will also be easier to see when it turns on. Instructions and a kit with parts are available in this Science Buddies project, in case you are not already following these directions: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... -saltwater
