Chitin

Hello, I'm Tiam.
My high school project in astronomy is about protecting astronauts on Mars from cosmic rays. I have a few ideas for astronaut costumes satellites that are a bit vague for me. In my research, I learned that chitin is a resistant polymer that exists in the body of scorpions and cockroaches, and on the other hand, cockroaches and scorpions are creatures that do not die after a nuclear explosion. I want to know that is chitin that resistant? How can it be used in this context?
