Hello imoncloud9,
The automatic pet treat dispenser is a great project! There are many directions you could take to turn this into a science fair project. One idea is to dispense treats at a set time interval (e.g. every 20 minutes or every hour) and note if, after a while, your pet exhibits differences in behavior like higher activity, excitement, or anticipation before receiving the treat. Another idea is to add a sound or light cue to the dispenser and measure how long your pet takes to approach the treat after the cue. By tracking this over a period of a week or more, you can document changes in behavior. Have fun with this project!

Hi! CarissaP gave you some great suggestions for turning this into a project for which you could use the scientific method.

I just wanted to note that if you are picking a project for a science fair (or school assignment), you might check to see if engineering projects are allowed. This project (as it's written) uses the Engineering Design Process (rather than the Scientific Method). So the goal of the project is a bit different. If your project/assignment allows engineering projects, you might be able to do this, but you wouldn't be gathering the same kind of data.
