Instead of cardstock can I use white construction paper or printer paper? How important is it that it be cardstock?

I love this experiment!

While it is difficult to exactly say which paper will work best, you could test out all three papers and see which one the ink shows up on the best. Construction paper is a low-quality paper, so it will likely absorb a lot of the lemon-water mixture, making it harder to read the final written message. Printer paper is in between the quality and thickness of construction and cardstock, so maybe it will be a happy middle ground! It should be a fun experiment to test all three of these papers out.

Hope this helps!
