Besides protective clothing, what do archaeologists use during field work to protect themselves and their site from the sun, rain and wind? How expensive is this equipment? How long does it last?

Would an archaeologist working in the field benefit from having access to large vinyl tarps that are 10-20 mm thick, flexible, strong, UV resistant? These tarps could be used to create shade or as ground covers
