Yes, homopolar motors do exist. They are driven by the Lorenz force, which results from the current being influenced by the magnetic field. If you are looking to create your own homopolar motor, Science Buddies has instructions on how to make one out of a battery, a magnet, and a copper wire: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/stem-act ... olar-motor. It's pretty simple and fun to make and I would suggest trying it out!
