Hello

I have a question,

I am building a static device.

I have allready one disc of Vinyl ( pvc ) and one disc of glass.
Both are 1000 mm diameter, 10 mm think.

I want to turn both discs in opposite directions. but what must be the distance to get the best result for a static loading?

Because I dont want, that they hit each other. ( affraid for damaging the discs )

Is 5 mm good enough? or is 3 mm better?


I hope you people can give me an answer, because i search the whole internet for this, and cannot find a satisfied answer.

Have you performed the experiment with a distance of 5mm?
If so, what were the results?
Is a disc collision your concern about trying the experiment at 3mm?
If not, you could try the experiment with 3mm.

By the way, I couldn't find anything on the internet either.

Thx for you answer,

I have not build it in each other yet. i will do that over a few weeks. but i was curious, if i get static loading, when the discs are not in contact with each other. ( distance about a few milimiters )

I don't know the answer to your question about static loading.
