Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

my son loves to fish so he wanted to know which color fishing worm lure bass would bite most. will this work for a science fair project? he is in kindergarten.

Yes, this is an excellent topic for a science fair project, because it's something your son is really interested in. And, there are so many different opinions about fishing lures that the subject could benefit from some valid scientific research.

One type of project that works well for kindergarteners is to simply present a collection. Your son could display various types of fishing lures and explain what the purpose of each type and color of fishing lure. He could be the expert on this subject and explain the topic to others.

If you want to do a simple experiment, I would suggest presenting various colors of fishing lures (without the hook) to a bowl of fresh water fish(like goldfish) and have your son count the times the fish touch or come close to each color of lure within 5 minutes. Your could ask him to tell you which color he thinks will work the best (his hypothesis), and then design an experiment to find out if the hypothesis is correct. Then definitely use the results to go on a real fishing trip.
