Hi my name is Lauren Nink I have a science project called “Can Hot Water Freeze Faster than Cold Water?” My teacher wants me to interview somebody, so I would appreciate if you would answer a few questions for me. Thanks, Lauren Nink

3. What do you think will happen “hot or cold water” will freeze first?

Learn things. Read articles about surprising phenomena.

2. Why do you like science?
I like science because it is filled with puzzles and discovery.

3. What do you think will happen “hot or cold water” will freeze first?
I think it will depend on the circumstances of the experiment, such as starting temperatures, the ambient temperature, the size and shape of the containers, and other factors

4. Do you agree that evaporation, convection and supercooling has an effect on both could and hot water?
Yes.

5. Do you believe in the mpemba effect?
Yes, I believe that under certain circumstances, warmer water can freeze before cooler water.

6. Do know what happens in the Mpemba effect?
No. I know of some possibilities, and it may be that different things happen in different circumstances.

7. Have you ever done this experiment?
Yes.

8. What is supercooling and why is it so important?
Supercooling is the cooling of a liquid below its freezing point without solidification. One reason it is important is that supercooled water in the atmosphere can create ice on airplane wings. Supercooled raindrops can form layers of ice on trees, power lines, and roads, causing major damage. It is also a very cool demonstration to see supercooled water freeze suddenly.
