Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I saw some of the topics on the list in the website. SOme of those projects are those that are done in my high in the AP classes. So, is it OK to still do a science fair project on those topics...

Welcome to the Science Buddies forum! To answer your question (hopefully ), it is perfectly acceptable to do a project on a topic that has been done before. If you are worried about the difficulty of the project, the Science Buddies website does provide difficulty rankings (between 1 and 10) to help guide you.

So, the short answer to your question is: Yes! Go for it!

Feel free to post again with more specific questions as you develop your project idea.

Attempting to repeat and reproduce work that has already been performed by other scientists is actually a critical part of science! As long as the work you do - and most importantly, the results you produce and the conclusions you draw - are your own (meaning that you don't copy the results or conclusions and actually perform the work yourself), you will be fine. Just be sure to reference any others' work that you find as part of your background research.

It is definitely alright to use a topic that was done before. You can always substantiate the results or add new unique ones!
