i have a class where pretty much all i do is research something, then make a project out of it. i need an idea for a project on bioluminescence, but i needs to be cheap and quick and easy. i guess i could just make a powerpoint or movie about it, but i wanna see what ideas you guys might have. i'd like to do something interesting, that will reflect what i've learned, and i thought power point or movie was kinda old-school. this isn't exacctly a science fiar project, it's a lot more open and i don't need to write a report or anything.

Hey merlinnair,
I was reading through the farmers almanac for 2009 ( my mom's friend gets it for me)
There was an article about fireflies... It won't let me copy the page into a word document. If you want the article you'd have to buy the digital copy for 6.95! i could type it but it's almost 7 pages long so... I hope it was a little help?

Sorry if it wasn't.

Hi Merlinnair,
Bioluminescence is a fascinating topic! In addition to Derek's suggestion about fireflies, you can look up information on a lot of marine organisms with their own light sources: many jellyfish, squid, and even some phytoplankton. A lot of deep-sea fish also bioluminesce.
While it would be difficult to do research directly on some of these animals, searching for information about them (including places like Google Scholar) may help you to come up with a project idea.
Let us know if you have any more questions. Good luck!
