Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

As a science teacher, I attended a workshop promoting a science lab program. During the presentation, we took a quiz which ended up being a great cognitive test. It revealed how people learn best. It is a great basis for a student interesested in cognitive research for science fair. Is the student allowed to use the quiz, and test his own subjects - or must he receive permission from the lab company? I am new to science fair, so I am not sure how much of an experiment can be taken from another source. Please help with this. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure from your post whether the quiz is a product of the lab company or simply something they had participants take in order to illustrate a point. If it is the former, the student should try to get permission; if it is the latter, he shouldn't need permission though he should still give credit to the lab company in their acknowledgements.

Another possibility would be for him to make up a very similar test to give out, though I still think he should give the company credit (especially if it is a product) on his board/in his write-up.
