Reflection

I am working on a project dealing with sun reflection and cooking.
We have a shoe box lined with foil and are trying to time the cooking time for a white vs. colored marshmallow.
Marshmallows are suspended on a stick inside the box.
The shoe box is placed in the sun at 12 Noon (EST). With the cold weather occuring on the East Coast right now, we are having a difficult time
getting the marshmallows to cook.....

Do we need to consider some option to retain the heat within the shoe box? Move the shoe box in doors? Etc????

Thanks for any help!

In addition to the great information also presented,

Inside this pdf file contains lots of information about the how to's of sun cooking. Hope it helps!

Also if you want to relate your experiment into a wider context, I suggest you take a look at the experiments taken over in Somali provided in the link below.

Great topic! Especially in the time of global warming, I feel your topic will stir up some interest into the whereabouts of solar cooking. Possibly you can expand your experiment into the variety of uses of solar cooking instead of the two marshmallow study.
