Density Question???

I have one quick science question. If there are 4 liquids in a bottle, the liquid with the most density would be on the bottom, and the least at the top, correct?

Hi daisydaisy303,
Welcome to the Ask an Experts forum. If the liquids are immiscible (like oil and water) then yes, the liquid with higher density will tend to be on the bottom and the liquid with the lower density will tend to be on the top. If the liquids are miscible (like alcohol and water) then you can end up with a uniform mixture of the two liquids with no obvious layering.
Of course, nature is always full of exceptions and surprises, but those are the general rules. If you explain more about what you are studying, we can probably offer some more specific information.
I hope that helps.
Chris

Temperature differences and viscosity can also have an effect. For example warm fresh water will tend to float on salt water for a while. Ocean currents such as the gulf stream are essentially a river of warmer water flowing over colder water.
