Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Can apple juice be used in place of water to grow a plant? I really need this as soon as possible thanks.!!!!!!!

If only your project idea is due in a couple of days, this topic would be fine, though as a high school student you would probably want to make it a bit more challenging. You could test a variety of different liquids on plant growth (water, soda, juice, vinegar, etc). You could even test whether the sugar allows more bacteria to exist in the soil by testing water runoff (you could use a water testing kit: http://sciencekit.com/waterworks-bacter ... IG0029603/).

If your entire project is due in a couple of days, you will not have enough time to complete this experiment, as the plants probably won't respond that quickly. If this is the case, I would suggest choosing a topic that takes much less time. Browse through our project ideas and look at the right hand side of each project page and it will tell you how long the project takes to complete under the "Project Summary". My guess is that most of the Plant Biology projects will take longer than a few days, so I would suggest looking at other areas.
