Hey im doing a project on the Brain and Eyes. My Question is "What affect do visual distractions have on the amount of time it takes to locate a particular letter among many?" Anyway i need a professional to answer these questions given to me by my teacher. If you can't answer the personal questions for whatever reasons that's ok but i need help! :!:

1. What is your name a title?
2. Do you think this topic is interesting, important, or useful? If so why?
3. When did you first start learning about the brain and/or eyes?
4. What are some important things you have learned about this topic?
5. How can knowledge about this be applied to everyday life?
6. What do you know about the occipital aka visual cortex?
7. What do you know about visual agnosia?
8. If someone had color agnosia(inability to view colors) and color was a factor in this test, would it help or not?

Plz Plz Plz help me!!!!!!!!!!! I'm desperate

Hi,

Your questions seem related to the Stroop Effect:

Here is some information on visual agnosia:

And exerts from a booko on the subject:

Here is some info on the visual cortex:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_cortex

I hope this helps more than an “interview “ would.

Best regards,

Hi,

I could be wrong, but I don't think we have an expert in vision among our experts on the forum. I suggest talking to your local eye doctor or contacting someone at a nearby university.

Good luck!

I was shy too when I was your age, so I have a few suggestions that might help. First, I suggest having your parents help you make the appointment to speak with someone, since that's often the most difficult step. Once you know someone is willing to talk to you, it's much easier to ask them questions. Once you're finally talking with someone, it's okay to admit you're shy--it's often easier if you just admit it; then they know that it's difficult for you and most people will be extra nice to you. Finally, before you go in, write down all of your questions. Then, you can just read them from your notes and you won't get as anxious about asking the person your questions.

It's hard to get over being shy, but I can tell you that it is possible--like anything else, it just takes some work. And I can tell you it's worth it; in order to get a job, especially in science, you have to be able to talk to other people. For me, it took many years of determined effort and I still put off making phone calls sometimes, but I'm a lot more comfortable talking with people now than I was when I was your age. So, it can be done :).

I am sorry we don't have an expert who can help you here. Good luck finding someone else :).
